Okay. Full disclosure. I almost killed myself in it.
It is VERY powerful. Extremely, EXTREMELY fast.
I’ve driven Ferrari’s that don’t feel as crazy as this thing. I am frankly afraid of it now.
That’s right. It’s in my garage and I’m afraid to drive it because it’s like a crazy steroid bull that wants to kill me.
I’ve done 130 mph on a Ducati while laughing into the face of death. The viper is a completely different bowl of crack. The engine sounds like 40 pit bulls eating kittens while lifting weights.
I cannot truly explain it’s power. It has whiplash acceleration in 3rd gear at 50mph. That sentence doesn’t even make sense. But it’s true.
That’s why I’m telling you. I will not have your soul on my conscience.
You need to know what you are getting into. What insane level of crazy you are buying.
Can you resist the urge to mash down the accelerator? Can you? Because it’s like owning your own demon. A demon that wants to kill you. We all know one person that for the right amount of money would kill you. But since no one is paying, they smile in your face and go about their day.
It’s like that except the Viper doesn’t bother to ever pretend it doesn’t want to kill you.
And it will do it for free.
Some brilliant engineer designed a beautiful sexy bulging body, fantastic suspension, great handling, aerodynamics, and all American style. While he was out on his lunch break, some demented maniac dropped 100 times more engine power than necessary into it and sent it out the door. It’s mentally unbalanced.
Look,
If you are the type of person that can be talked into having one more drink at midnight when you have a very important presentation or interview early the next morning, then the Viper is not for you.
The whole car is constantly whispering sweet lies to you.
“You got this”.
“Open me up and ride free, you got this”
“What are you a pussy?”
“Just do it”, “Do it”, “you got this”.
Do not do it. You don’t got it. You ARE in fact a pussy. And as we all know, pussy is mad good. But not that good.
You will sit on the curb and settle your heart after it tries to kill you the first time.
You will get back inside and it will immediately get back to the business of trying to get you to let it murder you.
“You got this. This time you know. That last time was just a fluke. You ain’t no pussy”.
Repeat after me.
You
Don’t
Got
This.
But for $30k you can look the devil in the eye and take this ride.
You were warned.

Also very tempting. Although I’d rather have a GTS. And also here in France I’d be sent to prison long before having the opportunity to kill myself in it.

There is definitely truth in the constant whispering. I endeavored to tame a 02 GTS by putting 10k miles on it in a year, but the whispers never stopped. The funny thing is, the faster you drive, the safer and more in control you feel. When you drive normally, the wide tires float around on the road over every crack and surface change. Push it hard and it rewards you with control like you wouldn’t expect.

I was lucky enough to get behind the wheel of an GTS ACR (silver over Black like the one above) as a 22-year-old and live.
Given more seat time there might have been a different outcome.
Fast is only part of the story. The tires grab whatever they can because they are the size of water buffalo and they are on streets built 40 years ago that have been progressively patched over those decades to keep from ripping every car apart. So Traction is, well, interesting.
I was “careful” in that I only applied the on-off-button gas pedal when all four wheels were pointed in the same direction. Even then, thanks to the previously mentioned infrastructural challenges, it would get squirrelly.
I went through a left turn from a light in 2nd, straightened the car (onto a 55 mph road) and goosed it. After grabbing fourth, I could finally pull my head off of the seat and look down at the speedo, triple digits.
They are monsters and should be respected as such.

I love this so much, though they really aren’t quite as scary as people make them out to be if you have any sense when driving. I daily drive my 04 and it drives like a normal car if you drive it like a normal car. Most people just aren’t used to so much torque so low in the powerband. Matting the gas around a corner is a stupid idea in just about any car, the Viper just has quicker results for your actions.

I don’t know. The most common negative stereotype about the Viper is that it’s a tool for compensating for tiny genitalia. Trying to sell it by hammering in how “powerful and manly” it is, and how you’re really not “man enough to drive this beast” just solidifies the seller and any buyer as being true to this stereotype.
Yes, I’m well aware that there’s a fair bit of irony present in this ad, I’m just saying that it highlights the negatives of this car (owned by insecure and impotent people who cannot read or write) instead of focusing on things that are actually positive (American icon, boyhood dream, racing heritage, etc.)

ctually driving a Viper was on my bucket list from the time I was a kid and when I ended up selling cars (something I swore I’d never do lol) we ended up getting one. It is one of the few cars that actually lives up to the hype. Most surprising thing to me is that you would imagine with that engine and as few amenities that is has even for the 90's that it would be loud, rumbly, and fall apart on every bump. That’s not the case those things are smooth and almost too quiet (unless your standing behind it).
I am in no way way a Chrysler man, in fact I tell people to avoid them but that car is one of the best cars ever made. Here is the pic of the one I drove only had under 30k miles on it I believe:

That ten is like no other motor. It didn’t rev - didn’t need to. Started pulling hard at about 1600 rpms.
And Castaing, Dodge’s engineering Chief back in the day stated pushing the Viper’s chassis was akin to balancing a grape on a knife-edge.
I spun the dealership’s out, a Viper with 34 miles on it, a $60,000 Dodge in a sea of $15,000 Dodges. Thank God I didn’t curb it. I did sit in the grass for a few minutes trying to figure out what happened.
Very much fun, yes?

Daemon.
daemon 1
Pronunciation: /dimn/
(also daimon)
NOUN
1(In ancient Greek belief) a divinity or supernatural being of a nature between gods and humans.
Another definition in dictionary:
daemon (dimn) or daimon
n
1. (Classical Myth & Legend) a demigod
2. the guardian spirit of a place or person
3. a variant spelling of demon
So, it is not necessarily evil. It just has supernatural origins. And it’s your guardian spirit. It does what you tell him to. It is only evil if you are.

The reason that model of Viper is so terrifying to drive is Chrysler SUCKS at weight distribution and suspension systems. The car is front heavy, and the suspension can’t keep the rear wheels glued to the ground, so you get a “floaty” sensation when driving at speed. IMO that car is just as downright dangerous as the original AC Cobra.
